چکیده

This paper describes a peak-tracking spectrum analyzer, called Parshl, which is useful for extracting additive synthesis parameters from inharmonic sounds such as the piano. Parshl is based on the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT), adding features for tracking the amplitude, frequency, and phase trajectories of spectral lines from one FFT to the next. Parshl can be thought of as an “inharmonic phase vocoder” which uses tracking vocoder analysis channels instead of a fixed harmonic filter bank as used in previous FFT-based vocoders. This is the original full version from which the Technical Report (CCRMA STAN-M-43) and conference paper (ICMC-87) were prepared. Additionally, minor corrections are included, and a few pointers to more recent work have been added. Work supported in part by Dynacord, Inc., 1985

Multiresolution Sinusoidal/stochastic Model for Voiced-sounds

The goal of this paper is to introduce a complete analysis/resynthesis method for the stationary part of voiced-sounds. The method is based on a new class of wavelets, the Harmonic-Band Wavelets (HBWT). Wavelets have been widely employed in signal processing [1, 2]. In the context of sound processing they provided very interesting results in their first harmonic version: the Pitch Synchronous W...

Extended Source-Filter Model of Quasi-Harmonic Instruments for Sound Synthesis, Transformation and Interpolation

In this paper we present a new technique for sample-based sound synthesis. The approach comprises the analysis of sounds of an instruments sound database, a parameter estimation for an instrument model and a sound synthesis using this model together with the analyzed sounds. The analysis of the sounds is carried out by the segregation of each sound into a sinusoidal and noise component and extr...

A New Algorithm for Bandwidth Association in Bandwidth-Enhanced Additive Sound Modeling

The Bandwidth-Enhanced Additive Model represents sound as a collection of partials having sinusoidal and noise-like characteristics. Bandwidth Association is the process of constructing the bandwidth envelopes for partials in the bandwidth-enhanced model by associating noise energy not captured by conventional sinusoidal modeling processes. We present analytical methods for collecting and assoc...

Object-Based Sound Source Modeling for Musical Signals

This study presents a framework for audio and music processing which consists of an analysis and a synthesis path that are connected at three representational levels. Auditory signal analysis techniques include a multi-pitch analysis model, an eventdetector, and sinusoidal modeling that are combined in an iterative sound separation system. Techniques are presented for detection of perceptually ...

A Non-Sinusoidal Reference Wave for Pwm Ac Drives

In this paper we propose a suitable reference wave for Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) AC Drives. Staircase reference waves whose levels are calculated to eliminate certain harmonics are studied and a certain staircase reference waveform with L levels is constructed. When L is made very large in limit, this staircase waveform approaches a continuous one which is called Quasine (Quasi + Sine). This...
